  1. Clean top of bond beam.
  2. Brush on a coat of pure portland cement or grout mix.
  3. Level bond beam with grout mix. It is preferable to use a portland and sand mix with no lime or masons cement.

    (This is harder to work, but is for the pool owner's benefit as
    lime from the mortar or masons cement will leach into the
    pool water and change their PH factor very quickly.)

  1. Dampen back of coping stones and bond beam grout, if it has set and dried.
  2. Butter back of coping stone with a paste of pure portland cement and water. (1/8" to 1/4" thick.)
  3. Set coping stones with an open joint of 3/8" to 1/2" between and behind them.
  4. Grout joints between coping stones with a mix of one part portland and three parts sand.
  5. Coping stones should be set with a caulk joint (3/8" to 1/2") between coping and deck.
